The work portrays a little-documented building in Sofia whose origins remain largely absent from public records. Its character appears to draw from Secessionist influences, combined with modest domestic and residential features. At the centre of the façade, a curved pediment becomes the defining architectural gesture, giving the building a quiet yet distinctive presence.

Likely dating from the early to mid-20th century, the structure stands within an urban setting softened by overgrown shrubs and trees, as if gradually being reclaimed by its surroundings. At the same time, the ground floor, with its more solid and utilitarian openings, suggests a history of commercial or logistical use, adding another layer to the building’s identity.

The work reflects on this tension between ornament and utility, visibility and obscurity, permanence and slow transformation. Through collage and drawing, the building is observed not simply as an object, but as a fragment of the city carrying traces of adaptation, use and time.

The original artwork is a handmade drawing collage created with ink on mylar and polyester layers. The photograph incorporated into the composition was taken and printed by the artist.
